As people across the US return to in-person work and offices, and stores and other businesses reopen, the need to maintain a clean environment is creating a surge in job openings. More than 160,000 jobs related to keeping workplaces clean have been posted across the U.S. in the last month alone, says PeopleReady, worker placement service.
The company’s analysis found that some of the fastest-growing jobs related to office and store reopenings included cleaning crew member jobs, which saw an increase of 364% in the last 30 days; housekeeping associate jobs for retail spaces, which soared 300%; custodial assistant jobs, which rose 200%; and building cleaner, janitor and general cleaner jobs jumped 80%.
