It is now official—cannabis beauty is banned in China. According to the latest official announcement posted on the National Medical Products Association (NMPA) website, any cosmetic product formulated with cannabis ingredient is not allowed to be manufactured in and/or imported to China with immediate effect.
Specifically, cannabis ingredients now banned in cosmetic products are: Cannabidiol listed in Inventory of Prohibited Cosmetic Ingredients, as well as Cannabis Sativa Fruit, Cannabis Sativaseed Oil and Cannabis Sativa Leaf Extract listed in Inventory of Prohibited Plant (Animal) Ingredients, according to the Regulatory Notice (No.74 2021) published and enforced on May 28.
