Beauty Story is a new development lab designed to create sustainable cosmetics bands and products. Beauty Story represents the next chapter from Blissim, the leading beauty box business in France. Co-founder and President Quentin Reygrobellet got his start working for Birchbox in Europe. Later, Reygrobellet and his partners purchased the French unit of Birchbox from its US owners and rebranded the company as Blissim in October. Today, Blissim has 50 million euros in sales and 230,000 subscribers. The company's strength is data; according to Reygrobellet it knows what its customers like and what they don't, and uses the information to curate 200,000 products for subscribers every month.
Data is driving Beauty Story product offerings, too. According to Reygrobellet, the company is working with 20 European labs to create products and concepts that resonate with consumers. The process has launched four brands with 13 products overall including Imparfaite and Glime skin care formulas and two hair care brands, Morning Street and Speciology. In September, two more brands debuted, both developed with as-yet-unnamed social influencers.
