Philippe Benacin, chairman and CEO of Interparfums SA, received The Fragrance Foundation's Hall of Fame Award. He was honored last night at the virtual 2021 TFF Awards. For a list of last night's winners, click here. Benacin has been instrumental in shaping the perfume industry’s luxury space for nearly four decades. A graduate of ESSEC Business School in Paris, he launched Interparfums with co-founder Jean Madar in 1982.
The Fragrance Foundation noted that Benacin is well-known for his entrepreneurial spirit, contagious enthusiasm and dedication to his team. He developed the company’s strategy and growth including its initial public offering (IPO) in 1995. He has led the development of the company’s portfolio of licensed brands which have included such globally recognized names as Burberry, Paul Smith, Celine, Van Cleef and Arpels, Jimmy Choo, Montblanc, Boucheron, Balmain, Karl Lagerfeld, Coach, Kate Spade and most recently Moncler. Interparfums also acquired Lanvin perfumes in 2007 and the Maison Rochas in 2015.

Benacin and Madar launched Interparfums with only a few thousand euros. Today, Benacin oversees one of the premier luxury perfumery companies in the world with a portfolio of license agreements with some of the world’s most exclusive fashion brands, 400 employees spread across multiple continents and a public market capitalization of more than $2 billion.
