Mark your calendar for XPAND2021, HCPA’s Annual Meeting, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on December 6-9.
The hybrid event will offer both in-person and virtual attendance options, and will look a little different from year’s past. Committee sessions will be focused on addressing specific issues that impact each of the seven Product Divisions; division sessions will be used to discuss broader topics that impact the entire household and commercial products industry. These sessions will cover the following:
Legislative Roundup: Extended Producer Responsibility
Due to the dramatic increase in federal and state legislation addressing recycling, plastic waste, and Extended Producer Responsibility for consumer products in 2021, this session will provide a recap of the bills that passed and how they’ll be implemented, as well as a look ahead at which failed measures could resurface in 2022. Lobbyists and legislative strategists will provide insight on the policies and political considerations driving changes in packaging and recycling. This session will be followed by a Legislative Roundup Happy Hour.
Retail Engagement: Special Session
This session will explore retailers’ expectations of their suppliers related to chemical safety and transparency.
International Affairs: Europe’s Expanding Laws, Regulations, and Sustainability Efforts and Their Potential Impact on Global Trade
U.S. laws and regulations have been influenced by European directives for some time now, and this is becoming even more true due to the extensive aim of the European Green Deal. American companies must develop strategies and initiatives for the European market – and plan for how this could impact the global market. This session will be followed by “Sustain the Buzz,” where attendees will be encouraged to continue these conversation over cocktails.
Antimicrobial Safety Assessment and Label Language: Landscape and Trends
This session will address the intersection between federal, state, and OSHA safety assessments and labeling requirements for antimicrobial products and ingredients. This session will be followed by the Antimicrobial Products Division New Member Meet & Greet Happy Hour.
Regulatory Affairs: Challenges of Containments
Disclosure requirements include unintentionally added contaminants, and raw materials and the supply chain can introduce unexpected contaminants into products or packaging. But what can manufacturers do to address these concerns? In this session, experts will provide approaches to identifying potential challenges and recommendations for traversing the regulatory landscape.
