Minimalism and movement lead the hairstyles for Proenza Schoeler’s NYFW 2022 show. Styles by hair care legend Guido Palau for Bumble and bumble, the styles spanned from braids to loose waves.
“Finding and embracing natural texture was the inspiration,” said Guido Palau, lead hairstylist for Bumble and bumble. “This season, the overall effect is minimal and modern, each to show the model’s personality and character.”
Styling Methods
For each model, stylists worked on finding hair’s natural texture by saturating the hair thoroughly with water. This brought out the natural texture of the hair. Saturating the roots helped them find the natural movement of the hair. Then, they used a wide tooth comb to comb through sections of hair. Once hair is combed through, a light layer of Bb.Grooming Crème was applied to smoothe the hair and give it a natural satin finish. As an alternative to add body and enhance texture in the same process, stylists used Bb.Don’t Blow It (Fine) or Bb.Don’t Blow It (Thick). Work through starting from the ends. Allow to air-dry, enhancing hair’s natural texture and movement.
For a modern punk braid, add black elastic throughout the braid, creating a binded-braid look. Bb.Curl Anti-Humidity Gel Oil was used to help ponytails to create a sleek braid. Finish with Bb.Strong Finish to smoothe fly-aways.
