Canadian beauty brand Bite Beauty says it is shutting down operations at the end of the year. The 10-year old company made the announcement on its Instagram page.
Bite’s Lip Labs, however, will remain open. The custom lipstick shops are located in Canada (Toronto) and the US (Brooklyn, Soho, Los Angeles San Francisco and Las Vegas, its newest location.
Bite, founded by Susanne Langmuir in 2011, was acquired by LVMH in 2014. The lip brand became part of Kendo, LVMH’s beauty incubator. Kendo’s current portfolio includes Fenty Beauty by Rihanna, Fenty Skin, KVD Beauty and Olehenriksen.
“Bite Beauty is an amazing brand that has enjoyed meteoric growth since Susanne founded it three years ago. It has enormous potential here in North America as well as abroad,” said Kendo’s then-CEO David Suliteanu, when the acquisition was announced in 2014. Terms of the deal with LVMH were not disclosed.
