The 74th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCC) was held in late May at the Royal Society of Chemistry, London. It was the first annual general meeting held in person since 2019.
At the AGM, Sam Farmer was elected president. Shona Bear (Superdrug) was elected vice president. Laura Kirkbride (Orean) was installed as immediate past president.
Additional officers include Sarah Gladstone of Rahn (honorary secretary) and Dr. Mustafa Varçin (honorary treasurer).
The SCS Council includes: Susan Ayton (Ayton Global Research), Emma Catchpole (No7 Beauty Company), Kalliopi Dodou (University of Sunderland), Elisabeth Dufton (Surfachem), Anne-Laure Fonteneau (The Body Shop), Mohammed Jamal (Jamal Perfumers), Majella Lane (UCL School of Pharmacy), Christine Lawson (CTPA), Peter Taylor (Retired) and Daniel Whitby (Smink Laboratories).
Bear returns to SCS Council, having previously been a council member from 2015-2018. New to the council are Catchpole, Fonteneau and Whitby.
The SCS Secretariat includes: Secretary General Gem Bektas, Education Programme Coordinator Bernice Ridley and Course Administrator & Office Support Joanne Morris.
In addition, Dr Emma Meredith (CTPA) and Dr Tony Gough (Innospec) were both elected as SCS Honorary Members in recognition of their services to the Society.
