The In-Cosmetics franchise is focused on the Americas this fall. Following the conclusion at In-Cosmetics Latin America in Sao Paulo this month (see sidebar next page), North America’s interactive personal care ingredients event will return to the Javits Center in New York on October 17 & 18 with a new program designed to bring one of the fastest-growing sectors of the industry to the event.
Indie brands are causing a huge stir this year with a multitude of new launches in the cosmetics sphere from newer, smaller and start-up companies. Defined by indiebrandbuilder.com as purpose driven; independently funded; design conscious; in small batches; and using non-traditional marketing, the rise of the indie brand has been evidenced even further by e-commerce giant Amazon recently announcing the advent of an Indie Beauty Shop within its Marketplace.
To further support the indie sector, the event will provide brand owners with invaluable networking opportunities, through its new Talk to the Indies program. An exciting addition to this year’s show, the initiative will run across both days, with brand owners able to meet leading suppliers and consultants. A dedicated session on 17 October will cover the major challenges faced by indie brands, including distribution, reaching out to consumers and upcoming trends.
“We can’t wait to bring the show back to North America for our third edition and introduce the new elements we have been developing,” asserted Daniel Zanetti, exhibition director, In-Cosmetics North America. “The Talk to the Indies program answers a demand, particularly in this region of the world, and we look forward to watching it unfold.”
Additionally, speed-networking sessions, held on the second day, will present an invaluable opportunity for suppliers to speak to representatives from indie brand owners, who have signed up to the initiative. This is an opportunity open to all exhibitors until October 18.

• In-Cosmetics Latin America is set for September 19 & 20 at São Paulo’s Expo Center Norte. According to Reed Exhibitions, stand space is sold out and about 33% of exhibitors hail from outside LATAM. Aside from the exhibition, the Innovation Zone will be back with an easily-accessible collection of the best products new to market. Each product in this area will also be entered into the In-Cosmetics Innovation Zone Awards, with visitors invited to the ceremony to see which companies walk away with the Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes, as well as the ITEHPEC Innovation Award. The new Spotlight On program will focus on various market categories, such as hair care and anti-aging, with attendees testing and learning more about functional and active ingredients. Once again, In-Cosmetics Latin America will feature a wide-ranging education program. In the Marketing Trends Theatre, Mintel will report on shifting trends in hair care; while Beautystreams will provide a look ahead into beauty color trends for spring and summer 2019. Stylus Group will provide a taste of the future of flavor in cosmetics and a half-day panel will discuss a range of topical and essential issues from regulations and R&D to fragrances and hair care. Meanwhile, dozens of workshops and technical seminars will ensure beauty professionals leave the show with a wealth of knowledge and new formulation techniques under their belts. “After three years of recession, industry attention is increasingly gathering on the potential of the LATAM region and In-Cosmetics Latin America affords us front row seats to watch this exciting area grow. Historically, the beauty industry in Brazil accelerates two to three times faster than the national economy, according to João Carlos Basilio, president of the Brazilian Association of Industry of Personal Hygiene, Perfumery and Cosmetics. “To that end, we are very excited to see all the best innovations on display at the show this September.” More info: http://latinamerica.in-cosmetics.com/ |
