China’s decision to temper its one-child policy in the face of a declining population has Shanghai Jahwa thinking about kids. The company with annual sales of more than $800 million is the largest domestic personal care company in China.
Now, Shanghai Jahwa will spend about $200 million to acquire Tommee Tippee, a British maker of baby care products.
“The acquisition is a combination of strengths,” Shanghai Jahwa explained in a statement. “The two sides will be able to create an international business platform of baby care products.”
According to China Daily, Shanghai Jahwa joins a growing list of Chinese companies that are acquiring premium consumer brands, expanding their businesses overseas and bringing quality products to China.
