Sumitomo Corp. has acquired Saci for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition expands Sumitomo's footprint in Europe, accelerates innovation for French and other European customers, explained Koh Akiyama, deputy general manager, personal care group, Sumitomo Corporation. SACI boasts a unique, naturals-based portfolio which is synergistic to the portfolios of its other sister companies. One of the key benefits of Saci’s portfolio is that it does not cannibalize any of Sumitomo's existing business, but rather enriches it, according to company executives.
"This strategic partnership is a win-win for each side," said Akiyama. "Just as we gain important access to Saci’s key customers and prime location, they too receive business advantages, including the enhancement of R&D, regulatory and marketing, a strong logistics base, and greater financial stability. Plus, our global network to approach customers. Ultimately, we expand reach and resources for one another."
