NeoStrata’s Exuviance brand has a rich heritage in skin care, and the company now has a new venue where that expertise takes center stage.
The brand, which has been stocked at places like Ulta in the US and skin care salons in Europe as well as through various online portals like dermstore.com, has a new dedicated retail space located inside the Mall at Short Hills, an upscale retail mecca that’s not too of a far drive from NeoStrata’s company headquarters in Princeton, NJ.
The store—which also has two treatment rooms—opened quietly in August, and Exuviance hosted a two-day grand opening in early November.
The clean, white and brightly lit store provides the feel of a professional skin care salon and has three areas that invite shoppers to “engage, indulge, and transform.”
Onsite aestheticians offer personalized, one-on-one skin assessments and recommend specific regimens, assisted by tools such as the SKINsight Imaging. This high-resolution analysis tool reveals common skin concerns—think sun damage, brown spots, red areas. The company will store those images, so customers can track their progress, according to Nikki Peters, global marketing director.
Testers are found on the store shelves and guests can take Exuviance products for a quick test drive at a 15-ft. long high-top bar that’s fitted with comfortable stools and pedestal mirrors.
At the back of the store are two private treatment rooms where guests can pick from several express treatments—all less than 30 minutes— including its SKINstant 15 Minute Express Power Peel.
The speedy treatments are a sure nod to NeoStrata’s history; the company was co-founded by Dr. Eugene Van Scott and Ruey J. Yu, who created and patented the first glycolic peel, which was known as the “lunchtime” peel because it was quick and had no downtime.
Additional treatments range from treating blemishes to boosting collagen to more targeted “add-ons” including Chin Up, which addresses the neck and décolletage area with an uplifting massage using Exvuiance’s Age Reverse Toning Neck Cream.
According to Peters, the combination of high-tech imaging and analysis and aesthetician expertise onsite provides a point of departure in beauty retail, especially within skin care.
According to Mark D. Steele, CEO, NeoStrata Company, Inc., the Skin Lab concept was “created in response to consumer demand, bringing savvy shoppers the skin care solutions they need in a beautiful, easy-to-navigate, engaging environment,” he said in a press statement.
And he told Happi.com at the grand opening, “We have great products and great people.”
