The Panama Beauty Project has been developed by Chris Humberstone, Humberstone International. Acme-Hardesty is the primary sponsor, along with support from Chemyunion and Croda. In addition, representatives from Gourmet Body Pastries, Happi, the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC) and the New York Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC).
"I was in Panama in January 2018 with my wife Luisa Ruffin and met CEMP Executive Director Cecilia Moreno Rojas through a mutual friend,” explained Humberstone. “We got talking about her work at CEMP and I remembered reading about the mission to Haiti in the SCC Cosmetiscope. Inspired by Marie Renee Thadal's leadership in this mission to Haiti, I contacted her and we started the project for Panama.
"We could not do this without the generosity of the volunteers and I would like to thank them," added Humberstone. "Also I would like to thank the sponsors, Acme-Hardesty, Croda, Chemyunion and Happi, but especially Acme-Hardesty, our main sponsor, for allowing their people to donate their time and expertise to support the work of CEMP. ”
During the week, the beauty industry executives will provide hands-on practical demonstrations including mixing coconut oil with fragrance, cold blending of ingredients, makeup and hair styling sessions, internal beauty and hygiene discussions and soap-making.
