A look at specialty beauty products spotted in Nashville, TN.
Suds That Sing
With names like Clove Miner's Daughter and Friends in Aloe Places, Music City Suds pays homage to Nashville and country music with handmade bar soaps wrapped in sheet music. Ingredients include as many local ingredients as possible, such as the pure carrot juice used in Stand By Your Mandarin ($6).
Deos Too
Music City Suds has branched out into other categories too, like lip balm and deodorant that are just as musical as its soap bars. Lady Anti-Smellum is an all-natural, aluminum-free deodorant scented with lavender essential oil. The 3oz stick ($9) also contains shea butter, beeswax, arrowroot powder and coconut oil.
The Thinking Girls Bath Bomb
Da Bomb, a bath products company started in 2012 by a pair of tween girls who sold bath bombs at local craft fairs, has since made it to 1,000 specialty retail stores. The company's Bath Fizzers line-popular with their peers and adults-includes the Quote Bomb ($7.50), which is scented like fresh basil bath and has a famous quote inside. All of the brand's bombs are handmade in the US.
Mixed Bag
NuMe Natural Soaps offers Bits & Pieces, a special pack filled with small selections of its many different scented soaps; citrus thyme, lavender vanilla, spiced orange and lemongrass are just a few of the scents sold by this handcrafted soap brand. Inside buyers will find pieces from the end of a popular loaf, discounted scents or even experimental batches—it is mystery every time. Each bag ($14) holds approximately 15oz of soap.
