New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is in full swing right now in the Big Apple. Leading makeup artists and hair stylists are working hard behind the scenes to complement the hottest designs for next year with classic eyes, lips, face and nail looks along with hairstyles and skin care preparations. Some makeup SKUs even make a preview on the catwalk. Here’s a look at what’s trending so far in fashion and beauty.

Nars at Novis
“This season, the Novis silhouette is feminine and linear with delicate jungle floral print, antique botanical drawings, and bold color. Jordana wanted a playful wash of dandelion yellow across the eyelids to create contrast in a modern way while keeping the rest of the look nude and luminous,” said Nars Global Artistry Director Uzo.
New at Nars
At the Spring 2018 NYFW show for Rachel Comey, Nars Cosmetics showcased a variety of innovations. According to makeup artist Romy Soleimani, who used Nars Cosmetics, “My inspiration for the looks at Rachel Comey were the vibrant colors of Morocco with a modern edge.” The face featured “new for Spring 2018” products—Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation and Nouméa Single Eyeshadow—among other classic beauty SKUs.
Retail Concept
New York’s ever-changing concept store STORY recently unveiled “Beauty STORY,” its 35th installation, produced in partnership with Coty. The project opened Sept. 7 just in time for NYFW and runs through Oct. 8. The bold conversation is led by Coty brands including CoverGirl, Sally Hansen, Rimmel and Clairol, which are joined by a curated mix of experts such as Space NK founder Nicky Kinnaird.
Essie at Rachel Zoe
Last week, Rachel Zoe showed both her Spring 2018 Collection, inspired by the Joshua Tree paintings of Erin Hanson, and her Fall 2017 Bridal Collection, featuring bohemian touches of lace and organza. To capture the ethereal feel of both shows, Michelle Saunders for Essie created a layered cream manicure and pedicure shade with a kiss of bling on the pinky fingers channeling the ultimate classic fashion staple: a pearl earring.
Pantone News
For the first time this year, the Spring 2018 Pantone palette will incorporate 12 top colors and an additional four “classic” colors. Published for the fashion industry by the Pantone Color Institute, the report features the top colors we can expect to see on the runway for the both men’s and women’s spring collections.
Nails Now
The manicures at Sachin + Babi were created by manicurist Geraldine Holford using Dermelect Cosmeceuticals’ line of peptide-infused color nail lacquers.
