Garnier’s Ultimate Blends range includes new shampoo bars that feature 94% plant-based ingredients. Sold in the UK now but making its way to the US via Amazon in July, there are four variants: Coconut Hydrating Shampoo Bar with Aloe Vera, Honey Treasures Strengthening Shampoo Bar for Damaged Hair, Delicate Oat Softening Shampoo Bar for Sensitive Scalp & Fragile Hair, and Ginger Recovery Revitalizing Shampoo Bar.

New from Carol's Daughter's best-selling Black Vanilla range, comes the Black Vanilla Luscious Moisture Shampoo Bar, designed to care for your hair and the environment. In its 2021 Beauty Week, Whole Foods featured a number of waterless products, noting that these formats will play a major role in the future of the market. Brands highlighted by the natural and organic retailer included HiBar, Moon Valley and Pacha, which all tout solid format shampoo and conditioner bars, and Nude & Crude Shower Powder, which sells a powder format body cleanser.

Hello Products toothpaste tablets have been the No. 1 selling toothpaste tablets on Amazon since July. There are two SKUs— antiplaque and whitening toothpaste tablets and an activated charcoal formulation that contains activated charcoal made from sustainable bamboo. Users pop a tablet in their mouth, chew, brush and they’re done.
A Modern-Day Soap on a Rope
New Flag has rolled out Foamie, a collection of hair care body care and facial care products all in bar form. Each bar has an integrated string detailing the product type for ease of reference once out of the box and specialized shapes. The range includes Shake Your Coconuts, a shampoo bar for all hair types (shown).
Body Wash Kit
Youbody sells a waterless body wash kit that contains body cleanser powder and the Youbodypod—which is part blender and part applicator. The brand was founded by Heather Fritzsche, the 2020 recipient of the Tory Burch fellowship. There are eight variants of the powder, and they can be mixed and matched, according to the Philadelphia, PA-based company.
Hair ‘Serum’ That’s a Solid
SuperZero’s Anti-Frizz Hair Serum Bar features a blend of natural waxes and oils formulated to smooth locks and restore shine. Ingredients include blueberry seed oil, plant-based squalene, abyssinian oil esters and berry wax.
Alleyoop’s Multi-Tasking Stick
Clean Slate replaces the need for three products with one single, compact stick, according to its maker, Alleyoop. It is said to gently and effectively remove makeup, remove dirt and buildup, and moisturize skin.

What’s Old Is New Again
Of course, bars aren’t new in personal care. According to the American Cleaning Institute, there’s evidence of soap-like material in clay cylinders dating back to 2800 BC!
