Comments: Chattem is the consumer health business of Sanofi US and owner of several well-known personal care properties including Gold Bond, Cortizone-10, Icy Hot, Aspercreme, Selsun Blue and Balmex. However, the company might be best known for its Allegra allergy medication, which is now sold over the counter.
And Chattem wants to bring another big brand out from behind the pharmacist’s desk. Chattem’s parent company and Lilly recently announced a licensing agreement to pursue regulatory approval to make erectile dysfunction medicine Cialis available for sale straight to the consumer.
Last year, the company’s sales rose 7%.
This summer marks Chattem’s first without sun care—it sold Bullfrog last February—however the firm has been busy on the launch pad with its remaining personal care brands. New SKUs include ACT Brace Care, a special mouthwash, and several targeted Gold Bond offerings including Gold Bond Ultimate Diabetes Dry Skin Relief Lotion, Gold Bond Ultimate Eczema Relief Cream and Gold Bond Ultimate Men’s Essential Hydrating Lotion.
