Indena (stand no. L41) is presenting Bosexil, an Olibanum extract formulated with a phospholipid-based technology to achieve a skin lenitive and soothing efficacy on skin. Olibanum, also known as frankincense, is the gum resin of various Boswellia species, trees native to India, Ethiopia, Somalia and the arabic peninsula. Olibanum has since long been used as an anti-inflammatory agent in the Ayurvedic and in the Chinese medicine, but the bioavailability of the active triterpenic compounds is very poor.
Bosexil combines the lenitive and soothing effects of the triterpenoids with an enhanced skin bioavailability assessed with percutaneous studies; its clinical efficacy has been evaluated in two different clinical trials and its formulability in topical preparations has been also optimized.
