Osterwalder has a diploma in chemical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. Later he obtained an MSc in chemical engineering from the University of Houston. With more than 35 years of experience in process development within the home and personal care industry, Osterwalder has been responsible for several major projects, including the launch of two UV-absorbers. He is a member of the ISO UV protection standards working group on SPF and UVA-PF and a UV Protection Lecturer at the Intensive Course for Dermato-Cosmetic Sciences, Brussels. He is also author and co-author of more than 30 scientific publications on the subject of UV protection and sunscreens.
