Procedure | |
Add water to the main beaker and create a vortex with medium speed propeller mixing. Sprinkle Carbopol to the main beaker and mix until fully hydrated. When uniform, add HEC and disperse until uniform. Check to make sure all gums are dispersed and uniform free of lumps and fish gels before proceeding. When uniform, heat part A to 75-80°C, add the rest of the part A ingredients and continue mixing to maintain temperature prior to emulsification. In a separate beaker, add Part B ingredients and heat to 75-80°C. When both A and B are at 75-80°C and uniform, transfer B to A slowly and homogenize for 2-3 min. until uniform. Add part C and continue homogenizing for 2 min. Transfer the batch to side sweep mixing and add part D. Cool the batch to 40°C. Add part E at 40°C and continue side sweep mixing until uniform. Cool the batch to room temperature and continue slow side sweep mixing for 30-45 min. to evenly disperse the effect pigments. When effect pigments are completely dispersed and the batch is at room temperature, drop the batch and check specifications. | |
