The Society of Cosmetic Chemists will hold two education courses this month at its New York headquarters. The first, Phytochemistry 101 for Cosmetic Chemists is July 18. This all-day rapid course in phytochemistry will cover the general chemistry of natural products from plants for skin health application, according to the Society.
This course will be of great interest to cosmetic scientists, formulators, analytical scientists, chemists and biochemists who want to enhance their knowledge and capabilities using botanical ingredients in product development. It is assumed that the students attending this course will already have some basic knowledge of organic chemistry and biochemistry.
The second educational opportunity is scheduled for July 25 and will cover silicone chemistry. This all-day course is intended to review silicone chemistry in a relevant manner, providing an understanding of the richness of the chemistry and the use in personal care formulations. Structure/function relationships will be discussed for products presented, according to the Society.
