About 550,000 units of carpet cleaners, manufactured in the US by Milliken & Company
of Spartanburg, SC, were recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission due to risk of exposure to bacteria. The recall involves Arm & Hammer, Capture, Healthy Home, Oreck, Resista and Riccar brands of dry carpet cleaners. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dry carpet cleaner and contact Milliken to receive a free replacement. Products were sold at Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, Oreck, Walmart and specialty carpet and vacuum stores nationwide from July 2015 through September 2016 for between $5 and $40 for the individual bottles or between $20 and $50 for a kit.
has recalled its Luminous Candle Collection. When the candle is lit, the glass jar can crack, posing a laceration hazard. About 31,000 units (in addition, about 300 units in Canada) are part of the recall. The firm has received 16 reports of the glass jar cracking; no injuries have been reported to date. The candles were sold exclusively at Yankee Candle stores nationwide and online at www.yankeecandle.com from September 2016 through November 2016 for about $35. The candles were manufactured in Poland.
