SC Johnson has donated $25,000 each to Segue Racine and the Homeless Assistance Leadership Organization (HALO). The Racine-based organizations will use the funding to support ongoing programs for the homeless.
“At SC Johnson, we want to make life better for the next generation,” said Kelly M. Semrau, senior vice president, global corporate affairs, communication and sustainability at SC Johnson. “We’re pleased to be part of efforts that help put our local families in need on a path to self-sustainability, but also provide a safe and compassionate shelter during these cold winter months.”
SC Johnson’s donation will help cover operational expenses for Segue Racine’s Homeless Overnight Sanctuary (HOST). The group provides food and a warm and secure shelter for those experiencing temporary homelessness in Racine. The group also works toward finding permanent housing solutions for its clients.
HALO provides food, emergency shelter, supportive services and permanent housing solutions that help people finally get “home.” The organization works with more than 90 service and agency partners throughout Racine to help its clients reach goals of self-sufficiency.
Local organizations that assist the homeless in Racine have received $75,000 in total giving from SC Johnson since October. Veteran’s Outreach of Wisconsin recently received a $25,000 donation to help construct the SC Johnson Community Center that will serve as a key part of the new James A. Peterson Veteran Village.
SC Johnson has provided more than $200 million in philanthropic support around the world during the past 10 years.
