Women in Flavor and Fragrance Commerce, Inc. (WFFC) continues to support worthy causes both inside and outside its industry with charitable contributions. During 2016, the general board of directors made donations to Bottomless Closet, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and La Casa de Don Pedro. In addition, the Cincinnati chapter donated to Matthew 25: Ministries, Dress for Success Cincinnati, and Crayons to Computers (Cincinnati location). An organization called Dreams for Kids was the beneficiary of the Chicago chapter donation.
“The WFFC recognizes women, children and men in need and is committed to helping those less fortunate. I would like to thank all of our chapters for their generous contributions and support,” said Amy Marks-McGee, WFFC president.
In other news, WFFC recently announced its 2017 scholarship award recipients: Anna Horowitz and Christina Chen.
Horowitz is the 2017 recipient of the Rita Flynn Memorial Fragrance Scholarship Award. Horowitz is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the science of perfumery at Brown University, a program which she developed with the Brown faculty. She has interned with the R&D fragrance portfolio at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF). Her goal is to achieve a Master’s degree from the ISIPCA (Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de L’aromatique Alimentaire) in scent design and creation. Horowitz volunteers her time as a board member for Brown University Students, Brown University Broadcasting and Kappa Alpha Theta.
Chen is the 2017 recipient of the WFFC Flavor Scholarship Award. She is a student Cornell University majoring in food science and has been selected for two consecutive internships at Takasago International Corporation.
