GERMANY: Symrise is one of the first signatories to the “Business and Biodiversity Pledge,” a voluntary commitment to the objectives of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
The UN Convention on Biological Diversity was created to counteract further loss of biodiversity around the world. The biodiversity convention or “CBD” was agreed at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. The three main goals of the UN Convention are the conservation of biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources.
By signing the “Business and Biodiversity Pledge,” Symrise is underscoring its responsibility to protect and preserve this natural capital for current and future generations.
