During Pack Expo 2017, Sun Chemical will take brand owners and their converting partners from concept to consumer with its innovative solutions designed to help brands achieve their unique packaging goals while enhancing pressroom activity, according to the company.
“Brand owners want innovative packaging that accomplish a variety of goals, from shelf standout, sustainability, and lightweighting to extended shelf life, compliance, color consistency and anti-counterfeiting,” said Penny Holland, vice president of marketing, North American Inks, Sun Chemical. “At Sun Chemical, we develop products and services designed to achieve all these goals and more. Using the theme ‘Brighter Ideas for Packaging’ during Pack Expo, we will show how we can be a partner that can meet a broad range of packaging needs that provide real value for brand owners and their converting partners.”
Visitors at Sun Chemical (Booth #S-6285) will be introduced to a new portfolio of eco-friendly inks and coatings that are formulated with significantly higher levels of bio-renewable resin content compared to other previous market offerings from Sun Chemical.
One of these inks, SunSpectro SolvaGreen flexographic and gravure solvent-based inks, feature naturally derived resins and additives and are meant for surface printing on biodegradable films. SunVisto AquaGreen water-based inks are formulated with high levels of bio-renewable sourced resins and deliver the required critical performance attributes needed across a range of paper packaging applications.
By utilizing SunBar (Aerobloc) oxygen barrier coatings, brands can further achieve sustainability goals by lightweighting packaging. Flexographic printers looking to integrate sustainable practices into their workflow can also invest in Sun Chemical’s SunGraphics SunLite In-Position Plates.
The new eco-friendly inks will be the focal point of a presentation by Sun Chemical’s Greg Pace, PhD, corporate manager regulatory and product stewardship. Pace’s presentation, “Reducing Environmental impact of Packaging with Eco-friendly Inks and Coatings,” will take place on the Innovation Stage in Room C-1041 on Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.
