The Estée Lauder Companies Inc.: welcomed Michael Smith as senior vice president, global information services, and chief information officer. According to the company, he is a seasoned leader who brings a mix of information technology, commercial and functional experience to this leadership role.
Leveraging his experience, Smith will further advance innovation in IT applications and infrastructure to effectively support and enable the company’s growth strategy and the evolving needs of its brands and business. In addition to managing the day-to-day technical operations, he will place a special focus on driving global technology solutions in key strategic areas for the company, notably retail, digital, social and analytics.
Smith joined the company from Boma Technologies, a technology consulting company that he founded and served as chief executive officer, specializing in technology and management advisement for the sports, life sciences and technologies industries. For more than 25 years, he held various technology leadership positions, including four years with Mylan NV, a global pharmaceuticals company, where he was global head of digital and innovation and global business services. Smith also spent 22 years with Nike, Inc. in multiple brand and technology roles, including senior director, brand product and marketplace solutions and senior director, enterprise solutions and technology. He is currently a member of multiple advisory boards, including Valintine & Cautreels, a healthcare company; CausePoint a technology company; and Incture, a software company.
