Cosmetic chemists like to say “skin is the biggest organ in the body.” We’re not totally convinced that is skin is technically an organ, but skin care is certainly the biggest category in the beauty industry, which is one of the reasons that we devote so much coverage to skin and related topics throughout the year. You can read our latest tome on the topic starting here. Christine Esposito reports on the companies that are making news in this multibillion-dollar sector. Also this month, Navin Geria provides an update on normally mundane moisturizers and Nava Dayan offers insights on what makes for a successful clinical trial (p. 48).
The Happi team isn’t the only group with laser focus on skin care. Walk up and down the aisles of NYSCC Suppliers’ Day later this month, May 15 & 16 at Javits Center in New York, and you’ll see plenty of new raw materials and testing services on display to make that night cream to end all night creams a reality. Of course, as long as you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to stop in to Happi’s Anti-Aging Conference, which is co-located with Suppliers’ Day. We have a great roster of speakers from industry, regulatory and the medical fields, so we’re sure that you won’t want to miss it. You can learn more and register for Happi’s Anti-Aging Conference at conference.happi.com.
Also this month, Melissa Meisel reports on the connection between personal care and wellness. There’s obviously more consumer demand than ever to feel as good as one looks. But looking good doesn’t necessarily translate to hair color. Industry sources tell us that sales of hair color, in both mass and salon, have dipped during the past year. But there are a couple of bright spots—experts say that online hair color offerings show promise and Combe’s Just for Men just keeps going and growing. Get details in our story that begins here.
We hope you enjoy this edition of Happi and look for us at Booth 643 and on the show floor at Suppliers’ Day and at our Anti-Aging Conference!
