The Society of Cosmetic Chemists is hosting a continuing education course on skin care science. Basic and Advanced Skin Science will be held Aug. 14-15 at the Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott. Instructed by professors Dr. Randy Wickett and Dr. K.P. Ananth, this course is filled with two days of content focusing on skin science that will provide the latest information to students, early careerists and experienced professionals. Attendees can decide whether to attend one day or both, according to SCC.
Day 1 covers basic skin science and is designed to provide a basic introduction to the structure and function of skin, skin measurement methods and some basic effects of skin care products for those new to the skin care field. It will also serve as detailed introduction to prepare students to study more advanced topics in skin care science presented in the advanced skin science course, which is held the following day.
Day 2, advanced skin science, will cover topics in skin biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology. It is assumed that the student will already have basic knowledge of biochemistry and skin structure, function and physiology. The goal of the course is to bring the student up-to-date on skin research of importance to the cosmetic industry.
