With the theme of “Extending Your Invisible Umbrella,” the New York Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists 2018 Symposium will offer a day of expert presentations, discussions and networking opportunities on Sept. 12.
Sun protection claims are no longer confined to beach wear products. Today, all types of skin care products make SPF claims with the protection coming from various types of sun filters such as organic and inorganic ones. At the same time, it has been identified that sun damage is not just limited to the UV light but also been attributed to High Energy Visible (HEV) light. This makes it very important to understand the link between skin health and the sun exposure. Knowing the regulatory status of the sun filters and the formulation nuances helps in building an efficient system which “extends your invisible umbrella” and thus letting you enjoy the sun for a longer time, according to NYSCC.
This symposium promises to address topics like skin health, HEV protection, formulating with inorganic sun filters and the regulatory status of the sunscreen filters.
