Albéa joined the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment launched by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to create a circular economy for plastics. During the past four years, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation has been rallying businesses and governments behind the positive vision of a circular economy for plastics. The Foundation and United Nations Environment now aim to take this momentum to the next level by launching the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment.
Since 2002 sustainability has been at the heart of Albéa’s business strategy—inventing packaging with smaller environmental footprints through use of lifecycle analysis software, eco-design guidelines, plastic weight reduction, development of recyclable packaging, use of post-consumer recycled and bio-based plastics, as well as partnerships with recycling industries and associations.
Albéa plans to make 100% of its plastic packaging reusable or recyclable by 2025 and take action to eliminate problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging by 2025.
