Procedure | |
Dissolve glycerin and the calcium chloride solution in water. Add the surfactants and stir well after each addition until clear. DO NOT weigh out the surfactants first and then add the water, as this will cause foaming. Add the Ceraphyl ester and stir until clear (ca. 15 min). In a separate vessel, weigh the water (B) and disperse the Surfathix N polymer. When well dispersed, carefully add the surfactant premix (A) to the polymer dispersion (B) in a slow, steady stream and mix. Neutralize with NaOH (C) until a homogenous clear gel is formed. Reduce mixing speed to avoid incorporation of excess air. Mix in the preservative (D). Incorporate the Captivates encapsulates (E) at low speed until an even distribution is achieved and fill immediately. Captivates GL encapsulates will require approximately 48 hours to achieve their final softness in the formula. | |
