It is well established that sunscreens protect skin against harmful UV rays from the sun and reduces aging. A wide variety of formulations are available in the market, which differ in their composition. A new formula developed by Allure Labs provides a two-in-one product that provides a chemical sunscreen for prevention of sun damage in combination with a combination of botanical extracts with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties to give your skin a brilliant glow while reversing the signs of sun damage. Recently, utilization of antioxidants in sunscreen as a protective against UV radiation has gained tremendous attention in developing more effective sunscreen formulations (Duteil et al., 2017). Allure Lab’s Magic Mist Sunscreen is a lightweight sunscreen that has superior hydrating ability without a greasy feel. Its unique combination of natural oils and extracts enhance its chemical SPF protection (40) and its 40-minute water-resistant profile and, more specifically, prevents sun damage by having antioxidants that neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS) to reduce the oxidative stress on the skin.
Recent study has shown that cannabidiol (CBD isolate) has medicinal benefits such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, anti-itch and anti-cancer properties (Sheriff et al., 2020). With the medicinal benefits of cannabidiol being actively studied and proven, we developed this advance formula that combines cannabidiol with vitamin E, buriti oil, evening primrose oil, rose absolute oil, carrot seed oil, and plumeria acutifolia flower extract to enhance the antioxidant properties of our sunscreen. Buriti, meaning “life tree” in Brazilian, produces fruits high in carotenoids and pro-vitamin A.
Buriti oil is a powerful antioxidant agent with proven antioxidant efficacy in vitro and in clinical assessments. It has been found to enhance SPF by ~15, and it also reduced the erythema caused by solar radiation. This formulation will prevent sun damage, and reduce the redness associated with any sun burn that might have occurred between applications. Allure Labs’ Magic Mist Sunscreen is pleasing to the senses with a great non-greasy feel, wonderful scent and glowing appearance of the skin.
