The American Society of Perfumers (ASP) held the annual Perfumers Choice Awards night at the Pucks Building, New York on Nov. 1. The awards were based on 11 different categories voted by ASP members. Winners included: English Leather (men’s classic), Hugo Boss (men’s contemporary), Chloe (women’s classic), Happy (women’s contemporary), Sun Ripened Raspberry by Bath & Body Works (personal care soaps, gels, washes), Old Spice High Endurance Pure Sport deodorant (personal care deodorants, powders, lotions), L’Oréal Burst of Watermelon shampoo (personal care hair care), Bounce Outdoor Fresh dryer sheets (household A laundry), Mr. Clean Mountain Fresh cleaner (household B), Wizard Orchard Nectar (household C environmental) and Clorox Rain Clean liquid bleach (challenge bases). Procter & Gamble was the most honored company during the course of the evening.

At the awards ceremony, Jean-Pierre Subrenat was honored with the Past President’s award by newly-elected president Steven Orson. Mr. Subrenat of the Creative Concepts Corp. served as previous ASP president for the year 1999 to 2000.

As president of the society, Mr. Subrenat devoted long hours to ASP. “My wife thought I had a mistress, but it was just ASP,” he joked.

In addition, the William Lambert award, named for a former educator, was presented to John Pascale, vice president of research and development at Libenn Aroma. Mr. Pascale has served on committees and in elective offices for ASP.

“I’ve known John since 1958 when we carpooled together, and showing up on time tells a lot about a person,” said Felix Buccellato, president, Custom Essence. “He has more credits than a doctor and is a perpetual learner. His service to the society has been long recognized on committees and boards and as former president and chairman of ASP.”
