Sederma Introduces Anti-Cellulite Active
Sederma has developed Phytosonic, a product designed to combat hypertrophy of adipose tissue by acting on pre-adipocytes and mature adipocytes. The vegetal material is derived from the new anti-fat technologies of ultrasound cell lysis. It is able to selectively detach hypertrophied adipocytes without destroying them.
The properties of Phytosonic target slimming not only at the cellular level but also at tissue level, according to Sederma. In one study, 27 female volunteers applied a cream containing 3% Phytosonic morning and night for two months. The material reduced cellulite from 17 to 69%. The ultrasound measurements demonstrated a very significant decrease in adipose tissue thickness in the thigh and knee. The decreases were 8.5% (up to 18.6%) and 8.2% (up to 20%), respectively. Therefore, it resulted in a mean reduction in thigh circumference of 1cm and a reduction of up to 2cm vs. the untreated thigh.

Arch Personal Care Products’ Metabiotics Resveratrol is a biotechnological ingredient for use in anti-aging skin creams and related products. The new material is produced through the fermentation of the small molecule, resveratrol, with the microorganism, Pichia pastoris. According to Arch, the resulting biofermentation extract completely metabolizes the resveratrol, affording anti-inflammatory and Collagen IV synthesis activity to target micro-inflammation and maintain the structural integrity of skin cells through the dermal epidermal junction.
In vitro studies were performed to determine the inhibitory benefits of Metabiotics Resveratrol on a full thickness tissue model to reduce expression of the anti-inflammatory enzyme cyclooxygenase 1 [COX1] along with its ability to promote the synthesis of Collagen IVA on the same tissue model. The results, in both cases, confirm with statistical significance that either a 1% or 2% treatment of Metabiotics Resveratrol reduces the levels of the COX1 enzyme and increases the amount of COLL IVA synthesis, according to Arch. In vivo, an anti-aging study has confirmed a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles following a 28-day application, as well as firming and lifting of the skin to reduce notable sagging that was present prior to treatment.

Novel Valve Systems from Lee Industries
The Fluid Transfer division of Lee Industries has introduced cleaning solutions for sanitary valves. As a standard feature, Fluid Transfer Ball Valves are easily disassembled for cleaning and quickly reassembled to get them back in service. Another option is the C.I.P. Ball Valves, which are ideal for situations that require clean-in-place. These valves are designed with a dedicated C.I.P. port and unique cutaway ball, which allow for cleaning solutions to flow through the cavity of the body and ball, thoroughly cleaning the valve without removing it from service. The C.I.P. port can also double as a product sampling port, furthering the value of this design, according to Lee. More info: (814) 342-0902, e-mail: sales@fluidtransfervalves.com
Soliance has developed two Ecocert-certified organic cosmetic oils with unique sensory and biological properties. Kendi oil is a sensory virgin oil native to the Sulawesi Islands. This cosmetic oil, extracted from the almonds of Aleurites moluccana using a mechanical pressure cold process, is rich in omega 3 and g-tocopherol.
Nyamplung oil is an active virgin oil extracted from the almonds of Calophyllum inophyllum, an Indonesian tree traditionally used for its therapeutic properties. It is said to prevent photoaging through three synergistic properties with proven performances. As a SPF booster, Nyamplung oil enhances sunscreen efficacy to protect skin and hair from UV. It also prevents DNA damage induced by UV exposure and reduces oxidative stress.
