Mibelle Debuts Spot Solution
Delentigo, the latest ingredient developed by Mibelle Biochemistry, treats age spots or uneven skin tone, shaded areas formed by a local overproduction of the two pigments, melanin and lipofuscin. In a clinical trial, a test cream with Delentigo was very efficient in the treatment of age spots because the actives worked mainly in the spot area and did not induce a strong bleaching effect on the neighboring, normally pigmented skin. The targeted efficacy is the result of blocking the overreaction of skin to sunlight that is typical for age spots and to prevent lipofuscin formation.

Stepan has developed a Biorenewable Carbon Index (BCI), an easy-to-reference product guide that contains physical and environmental data. According to the company, it includes, but is not limited to, biorenewable carbon content, biodegradation, VOC and a sulfate-free notation on Stepan surfactants and solvents. The BCI is a list of those products derived from greater than 50% biorenewable carbon and is organized by two markets, personal care and household, institutional and industrial (HI&I). Cohesium, the latest active ingredient from Silab, reinforces the cohesion of the upper layers of the epidermis by tightening the intercellular junctions, thus restructuring the barrier function and guaranteeing good moisturization in personal care products, according to the company. Numerous studies have shown that the intercellular junctions and, in particular, the tight junctions regulate the permeability of the paracellular spaces and limit “water leakage.” To reinforce these junctions, the company has developed Cohesium from ophiopogon tubers, a plant that can withstand drought thanks to the presence of mucilages, substances well known for their hydrophilic properties. It is ideal for restructuring and moisturizing products. More info: www.silab.fr
