Abstracts for 26th IFSCC Congress are Due Nov. 2
The 16th Congress of the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetics Chemists is now less 12 months way, slated for Sept. 20-23, 2010 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Those interested in submitting abstracts for the scientific program must do so by Nov. 2, 2009. Preliminary topics include cosmetics (physical, chemical and biological aspects); well being and beauty cosmetics; protective strategies; and society and cosmetics.

New England Fall Seminar To Cover Future of Cosmetics
On Oct. 22, the New England Chapter of the SCC will hold its Fall Seminar, “Cosmetics…Looking to the Future,” at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Worcester, MA. The all-day seminar will run from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Speakers and topics include Nava Dayan, “Mechanisms of Aging;” Alan Wohlman, “Looking and Feeling Younger with Naturally-Derived Personal Care Ingredients;” Ray Sourial, “Peptides: Past, Present and Future;” Tara Thompson, “The Relationship of Fragrance to the Pyschology of Looking Good;” and Roben Allong, who will address marketing trends.

SCC’s Basic Skin Care Science Education Course is Nov. 11
The SCC will hold an education course on basic skin care science for the cosmetic chemist, Nov. 11 at the Sheraton Newark Airport Hotel in Newark, NJ. Randy Wickett will be the instructor of this course, which will cover skin anatomy, function and evaluation methods.There will be focus on how the structure of skin influences its interaction with products and how those interactions influence measurable properties of the skin.
Dr. Wickett has worked for companies including P&G and S.C. Johnson and is a professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. In addition, he is Fellow of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) and has received numerous SCC technical awards including the Maison G. de Navarre Medal Award, the SCC’s highest award for technical achievement. Dr. Wickett was the editor of the journal of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists from 1991-1997.
The fee for this course is $300 for SCC members, $150 for student members and $425 for non-members for registration prior to Oct. 28. After that date, the fees are $350, $175 and $475, respectively. More info: www.scconline.org
