Boris Schaefer is the 77th President of the Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers (CIBS) organization for 2025. CIBS is a professional group that connects buyers and suppliers in the cosmetic, personal care and packaging industries, promoting networking, education, and collaboration to drive innovation and growth.

Schaefer has more than 25 years of experience in the cosmetic packaging industry. Currently, he leads US sales and operations for the TNT Group, a supplier of premium primary and secondary packaging solutions.

He says it is an honor to serve in his new position, and that his presidency “will focus on key initiatives designed to drive growth and engagement within CIBS.” His goals include expanding membership, attracting younger professionals, and hosting diverse events, including a Brazilian-themed luncheon on February 26, a German Beerhall Party on April 2 and a Kentucky Derby-themed Ladies Day on May 2.

CIBS Objectives for 2025

Adding Exciting Events: CIBS will also host vibrant events throughout the year to engage and inspire members. Schaefer says, “From reintroducing educational speakers at our luncheons to hosting a German Beerhall Party this spring, I am committed to creating fun and memorable experiences that appeal to all generations of packaging professionals. We’re especially excited for our Kentucky Derby-themed Ladies Day—an event you won’t want to miss!

He says CIBS is also working on recruiting exciting speakers for their luncheons “to make the events even more meaningful by adding a learning experience to the networking opportunities.”

Reintroducing a Holiday Event: “Looking ahead to the 2025 Holiday Season, Schaefer says they’re exploring new ideas for a more casual event—possibly a themed, mid-week Happy Hour—to bring members together to close the year in celebration.

Getting the Word Out: While CIBS continues to communicate through traditional channels, email, and website, Schaefer says, “Our Social Media Chair, Kay Brown, has done an amazing job providing relevant content on Instagram and Linkedin. We significantly grew our audience there, and it has become a major form of communication.” Schaefer will also create a new WhatsApp group “to communicate informally.”

CIBS’ first gathering of 2025 will be a Brazilian-Themed Luncheon at Fogo de Chão on February 26. Schaefer is looking to encourage a crowd: “Please join us and bring your colleagues, customers, friends, and suppliers—it promises to be a great event!”

A Year of Growth, Success and Fun in 2025

“Together,” says Schaefer, “We’ll make 2025 a year of growth, success, and fun for our members.”
