BASF is implementing a series of measures within its Home Care and Industrial & Institutional Cleaning and Formulation Technologies businesses to strengthen the competitiveness of its Performance Products segment. These businesses are part of BASF's Care Chemicals division, which offers a broad range of ingredients for the personal care, home care, industrial and institutional cleaning and hygiene industry, as well as for technical applications. BASF will realign its business models and processes to better address differentiated customer needs in the fields of standard products and innovative solutions. This will result in a reduction of about 120 positions globally by mid-2015. According to BASF executives, following the successfully implemented optimization measures for the personal care business, the current set of additional measures aims at adapting the Home Care, Industrial & Institutional and Formulation Technologies businesses to changed market conditions and customer needs. “We combine optimized business processes with targeted investments continuing to rely on offering innovative solutions as one main source for growth. In this way, we will further strengthen our leading position in the Home Care and Industrial & Institutional Cleaning as well as Formulation Technologies businesses,” explained Gabriel Tanbourgi, head of BASF's Care Chemicals division. BASF's Care Chemicals division is committed to implement its innovation-driven growth strategies and continues to invest significantly in research and development as well as in new businesses such as enzymes, according to company executives. Cooperations with its partners, for instance in the home care, industrial and institutional cleaning and construction industries, will be the foundation for growth, meeting customers' needs and bringing innovative solutions to the market. In addition, the company strives for growth by expanding production capacities for more sustainable products such as the chelating agent Trilon M, which is used as an alternative to phosphates in dishwasher detergents.
