When it comes to slow aging, facial serums are the key first step to unlocking maximum smoothness.

From snail mucin to salmon sperm and bee venom, beauty enthusiasts are leaving no stone unturned to keep their faces ageless, even if it means dipping their fingers into a chemistry lesson. The two facial serums swimming to the top of the moment’s fastest-growing serums in the US per beauty trend tracker Spate’s Popularity Index are centella ampoule and polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN).

Polydeoxyribonucleotide Serum

For those who remember their science class basics, Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) serum is a compound made of DNA fragments that help regenerate skin cells and promote healing. These serums are known for enhancing overall complexion and reducing signs of aging. While most PDRN is traditionally sourced from salmon sperm, there are now vegan alternatives available. However, the ongoing popularity of animal-derived versions shows consumers’ continued desire to prioritize results over cruelty-free claims.

Per analysts, interest in PDRN serums has surged more than 1,000% over the past year, and across platforms. On TikTok, which owns 68.6% of the trend’s popularity share, the branded hashtag #rejuran averages 1.4 million weekly views, while #medicube sees 188.2K. Medicube also leads the category on search, with 480 average monthly Google searches. This trend’s strong presence on TikTok Shop, 66.8% of related views are tied to commissionable content, is a clear signal to other brands. Analysts say if brands are not strategizing around TikTok Shop – whether through lives, sales, or influencer partnerships – risk FOMO (fear of missing out). The top benefit hashtags, like #intensiveantiaging (766.7K average weekly views) and #slowaging (432.5K average weekly views), further point to what consumers are actively seeking. While Korean brands are currently leading the charge, there’s room for more players to enter the space.

Centella Ampoule

Centella ampoule is a highly concentrated treatment known to repair and strengthen the skin barrier, calm redness and reduce irritation. This trend has grown by +135.7% compared to last year, and across platforms. On Google Search, it’s up +161.6%, with 5.6K average monthly searches. TikTok is also fueling the conversation, with views up +69.3% year over year and averaging 672.7K weekly. While TikTok plays a key role, Google Search dominates the trend with 79.8% of the popularity share, showing that users are continuing to turn to search for deeper skincare research.

Korean brands like Skin1004 and PureHeal are appearing in top search queries, but the most searched term isn’t branded (centella ampoule). That leaves an opportunity for new players to enter the market and set themselves apart, whether through branded content or a stronger focus on their soothing and hydrating benefits. On TikTok, top branded hashtags alongside this trend are #skin1004 (406.1K average weekly views) and #puritoseoul (31.9K average weekly views), both K-beauty brands. The trend also carries a strong 8.2 out of 10 consumer sentiment rating on TikTok.
