Givaudan CEO and Chairman To Retire

CEO Gilles Andrier will retire in March 2026. His replacement is Christian Stammkoetter of Danone.

Givaudan Chief Executive Officer Gilles Andrier will retire in March 2026. He served as CEO for 20 years. Christian Stammkoetter, president Asia, Middle East & Africa at Danone, has been designated CEO, effective March 1, 2026.

The company also announced Chairman Calvin Grieder will step down from the board at the 2026 Annual General Meeting, after completing 12 years of service. Andrier is to be proposed for election as chairman.

“It has been an immense privilege and source of joy to lead Givaudan for the last 20 years and be part of its journey for over 30 years. I love this company, and its purpose, ‘Creating for happier, healthier lives with love for nature. Let’s imagine together,'” said Andrier. “Over the years, I have been incredibly fortunate to work with, and see develop, many talented individuals and teams. I’ve been equally inspired by our clients and am proud to contribute to the success of their brands. As we set out our strategic roadmap for the next five years, it is the right moment to announce the handover to Christian. I wish him every success for the future.”

Dynamic Growth for Two Decades

Under Andrier’s leadership, Givaudan experienced significant growth driven by a successful strategy focused on geographic, customer and portfolio expansion, and over 20 strategic acquisitions. Between the end of 2004 and the end of 2024, Givaudan grew from 5,900 to 16,900 employees. Sales almost tripled to over $9.1 billion.

Stammkoetter Is an FMCG Veteran

Incoming CEO Stammkoetter is Danone’s president for Asia, Middle East and Africa and a member of the executive committee. He brings over 25 years of global experience, from personal care to food, beverage and nutrition, and across multiple geographies. According to Givaudan, Stammkoetter has a proven track record of driving sustainable growth and value creation. He’s led high-performing teams, fostered a culture of innovation and creativity, combined with a strong customer focus and deep consumer understanding.
