US Patents No. 8,475,778 B2 and 8,475,816 B2; L’Oréal has been issued two US patents that relate to its beauty business. In 8,475,778 B2, L’Oréal has patented a process for inhibiting hair from becoming frizzy when exposed to high and/or low humidity. The clear composition contains at least one fatty quaternary amine compound, at least one nonionic surfactant; at least one anionic silicone; at least one oil; at least one cationic polymer; and at least one film former, different from the cationic polymer. The second covers a emulsion lipstick composition (8,475,816 B2) that contains at least one polyamine; at least two polar modified polymers; water; at least one non-volatile solvent capable of solubilizing the at least one polar modified polymer; and at least one high temperature melting wax. The polar modified polymer is an oil-soluble polar modified polymer comprising at least one C2-C4 monomer and modified with at least one hydrophilic unit, and having a weight-average molecular weight of less than or equal to 25,000 g/mol and a melting point above 75°C. The second polar modified polymer is an oil-soluble, high-carbon, polar-modified polymer comprising at least one C22-C40 monomer modified with at least one hydrophilic unit, and having a weight-average molecular weight of less than or equal to 30,000 g/mol and a crystallinity of 8% to 60%. The composition is free of emulsifiers and/or silicone fluids.
