Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd. will sell its Global Shared Services Organization division to a unit of its holding company, U.S.-based Colgate Palmolive Co., for 598.9 million rupees ($11.1 million).

The Global Shared Services Organization division will be sold to Colgate Global Business Services Pvt. Ltd. in what is known as a “slump sale,” where a business undertaking is transferred for a lump sum consideration, without individual values being assigned to each assets and liabilities.

The deal will be effective June 1, the company said in a notice to the stock exchanges.

The deal amount has been arrived at on the basis of independent valuation conducted by Ernst & Young Pvt. Ltd., it added.

Colgate, which sells toothpastes, toothpowder, toothbrushes and mouthwashes under the Colgate brand and personal care products under the Palmolive brand, didn’t give a reason for the deal.
