The cosmetic chemists at Evonik rolled out an array of new ingredients in time for NYSCC Suppliers’ Day. On display were products for skin and hair care products, including: Tego Feel Green, a 100% natural cellulose powder with high oil and water absorption, which is said to be especially suitable for O/W formulations with high content of humectants. It provides a homogeneous texture and better integrity during distribution and improves absorption, while reducing tackiness, greasiness and oiliness. Tegolon Eco 10-10 is a vegetable-based polyamide particle. Its properties include high oil absorbing, mattifying and reduced tackiness. It is said to be especially suited for color cosmetics, including makeup foundation, loose or pressed powders, compact foundation, eyeshadow and eye cream, serums, facial care, sun care and men’s care. For hair care formulations, Evonik highlighted Abil ME 45, a high molecular weight, silicone quat microemulsion for shampoo and conditioner applications. According to Evonik, Abil ME 45 protects from heat damage; improves color wash fastness of dyed hair; is very easy to process and has universal applications in shampoos and conditioners. Abil Soft AF 300 is described as a high performance aminosilicone for conditioning rinses. It is cost efficient, easy to handle and process, improves feel and softness of hair, and provides excellent hair conditioning properties. Finally, Evonik says its Tego Carbomer 750 HD is an easy-to-process polyacrylic acid copolymer gelling agent and emulsion stabilizer. It is especially suitable for cosmetic or pharmaceutical emulsions and gels, imparting brilliant clarity in gel systems.
