As such, the company has rolled out Sustainable Solutions for Styling, a unique, comprehensive portfolio of biopolymers and formulating techniques to create styling products. The polymer offerings include Biostyle CGP fixative polymer, Amaze XT styling polymer and Structure Style multifunctional polymer. “Whatever the formulator is looking for, we’ve got it,” insisted Laurie Marshall, global marketing manager, hairstyling, AkzoNobel. “We conducted life cycle analyses on all these materials and the results were much better than polyvinylpyrrolidone.” According to AkzoNobel, Biostyle enables formulators to create more natural, crystal-clear gels with a patented hybrid polymer technology which combines the best of synthetic performance and sustainable technology in a single polymer. Amaze XT is an easy-to-use, 100% natural, multifunctional fixative and thickening/suspending agent derived from dehydroxanthan gum. It is said to provide long-lasting, natural hold; with humidity-resistant curl retention and enhanced rheology control. Finally, Structure Style polymer is a naturally-derived, non-GMO starch-based film-former and rheology modifier that provides excellent thickening and long-lasting hold with the potential for significant cost-savings according to AkzoNobel.
