The list reads like a Who’s Who. But unfortunately for Avon, it’s a list of Who’s Not—Who’s not interested in the CEO spot, that is.

First up was HSN Inc.’s CEO Mindy Grossman. Then there was former Procter & Gamble Co. executive Ed Shirley. Most recently, Susan Arnold, also a P&G alum, said she wasn’t interested in becoming Avon’s CEO.

No one’s saying why there are no takers, but when you’re a top dog in the industry, you pretty much want to run the show. With Andrea Jung still holding the leash as Avon chairman, the best contenders are opting out of this competition.

Still, Avon is expected to name a new CEO by the annual meeting in May. Some names said to be under consideration include: Dawn Hudson, the former CEO of PepsiCo’s North American business; Carlos Gutierrez, the former CEO of Kellogg Co. and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce under the administration of President George W. Bush, and William Perez, the former president and CEO of Nike Inc. and of Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. Perez has served on Johnson & Johnson’s board since 2007, and is a senior adviser for the investment banking firm Greenhill & Co.
