The former president of fast-rising Carol’s Daughter has taken the top spot at Fashion Fair Cosmetics, the prestige makeup brand targeting women of color. Clarisa Wilson will takeover in the coming weeks.

Carried in 640 outlets globally, including Macy’s Inc., Dillard’s Inc., Belk and The Bon-Ton Stores Inc., the brand is owned by Chicago-based Johnson Publishing Co. LLC. Fashion Fair’s sales are said to be in the $40-50 million range.

Wilson said she plans to “leverage the brand’s DNA into the product line so there will be more fashion and color stories, and we will take these stories to the website,” to be relaunched mid-August.

Desirée Rogers, chief executive officer of Johnson Publishing Co., said Wilson had been consulting with the firm for several months and that the next natural move was to name her president. Fashion Fair’s last president, Anne Sempowski Ward, left the firm in July 2010.

Earlier this month, Johnson announced it had partnered with J.P. Morgan Chase’s Special Investments Group, which invested an undisclosed sum into the publisher of Ebony and Jet magazines. At the time, Rogers said the money would be used to fund projects including new in-store displays, as well as a more comprehensive marketing plan and a new website.
