The lights may have dimmed a bit for singer Celine Dion and futbol player David Beckham, but both are set to launch new fragrances this fall. Dion’s Signature is a new women’s scent created by Firmenich perfumer Ilias Ermenidis. It has top notes of mimosa blossom, pink lady apple and juicy guava; a heart of Indian jasmine, rose essence and magnolia blossom, and a drydown of sensual musk, amberwood and sandalwood. Industry sources estimate that Dion’s existing seven pillar scents have generated sales of more than $40 million at retail globally year to date. Dion’s scents are sold in 35 countries, with about 55 percent of the brand’s sales done in Europe, and the U.S. accounting for the remainder of the business. Sources estimated that Signature could do about $20 million at retail globally in its first year on counter, with the U.S. accounting for about half that total.

Signature will be available as an EDT in three sizes, 0.5oz for $16, 1oz for $27 and 1.7oz for $34 — will be offered. The scent will be sold in about 28,000 mass market and drugstore doors in the U.S., with total global doors topping 50,000. There’s also a website, www.celinedionbeauty.com.

Meanwhile, while one time Premier League star David Beckham toils away in near obscurity for the Los Angeles Galaxy, that’s not stopping him from launching a new scent, Homme, in September.

The scent was created by Firmenich’s Pierre Negrin and has top notes of citrus, ginger, pine and fiery pepper; a heart of cashmere wood, leather and rosemary, and a drydown of mahogany wood, patchouli and skin musk. Eaux de toilette in three sizes — 0.5oz for $17.83, 1oz for $25 and 1.7oz for $33 — will be sold. Outside the U.S., Coty will also offer a 2.5oz size, along with a hair and body wash, deodorant body spray and deodorant stick.
