All’s Well That Ends Well?

News broke that France’s richest woman, L’Oreal cosmetics heiress Liliane Bettencourt, and her daughter, Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, have resolved a legal dispute over more than $1.34 billion, according to reports.

Bettencourt Meyers had brought the lawsuit against photographer Francois-Marie Banier in 2007, stating he abused her mother’s alleged mental frailty and abusing her trust to bilk Liliane Bettencourt out of millions in cash, artworks and other gifts. According to reports, Banier, a longtime friend of Bettencourt’s, has insisted he did not take advantage of her, but the dispute prompted a string of legal cases.
