Former Procter & Gamble Co. CEO A.G. Lafley and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. CEO Mike Duke met Nov. 29 with President Barack Obama as a part of an outreach to U.S. businesses.
Obama met with Lafley to talk about the economy, Bloomberg reported.
The meeting with Wal-Mart’s (NYSE: WMT) Duke was initiated by the administration, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said. There are nearly two dozen Walmart stores in the Dayton region.
“This is part of a series of ongoing meetings that the president has had for the last many, many months and will continue to have to solicit the ideas of some of the nation’s largest employers in ensuring our continued economic recovery,” Gibbs said of the meeting with Duke.
Lafley retired as chairman of P&G last December, and in April, joined private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. P&G is the parent company of pet food maker Iams Co., which was founded in Dayton.
